Benefits of Using Essential Oils


Aromatherapy has been in use for many centuries. The broad benefits of aromatherapy cannot be neglected. People, all over the world, have been making use of different types of essential oils in order to relax their mind, body and soul. Popularly known as the “women’s oil” due to the fact that it offers various menopausal and menstrual benefits, Geranium Oil has a variety of uses.  Not only does it is beneficial when it comes to promoting the health of women, it is also used for various skin problems such as athlete’s foot and eczema and also for respiratory tract health. What makes it a marvellous aphrodisiac is floral, spicy as well as exotic fragrance. In addition to this, it is very mild, and thus can be used anywhere, anytime and by everybody.

It was originated in Morocco, Madagascar, Egypt and South Africa and was introduced to European countries in the 17th century. Geranium is a perpetual shrub that can grow up to the height of 3 feet. It is a hazy plant that produces pink and white flowers and has pointed notched leaves.

It is a natural astringent and leads to contraction of skin tissue consequential to firmer and younger looking skin.  It enhances elasticity and promotes cell regeneration of skin making it a perfect choice of anti aging treatments. Application of this oil can help in balancing oily as well as dry skin by regulation of sebum production. When used in bathing, it can rejuvenate and relax your body and mind.

Citronella oil is extracted from a tall grass known as the Citronella that is largely found in Sri Lanka and Java. It is extracted from the dried or fresh Citronella grass by the process of the steam distillation. It tends to form the important part of various products primarily wax candles, skin tonic lotions, perfumes, soap, deodorants and repellants among other skin care products.
This oil has pale yellow colour with a fresh lemony fragrance. It is a natural stimulant and is used as massage oil. It is applied on the skin together with various other carrier oils akin to almond oil, baby oil and olive oil, however as it can cause irritation to some areas of skin; it is generally used when blended with other oils. It is beneficial for people suffering from menstrual pain, severe headaches, fever, migraines and fungal infections.  It has soothing and effective properties that helps patients suffering from minor infections, flu and colds.
